I got to the movies with my SO to see "Finding Dory". We go to a theater in NoVA, which has very little issues. It's a nice place.
Previously we had to quit going to movies becasue of the criminal element; obnoxious people, David Schumaker-type people who can't/won't STFU, sneezing, coughing, laffing, talking throughout the whole movie. We stopped going to three different cinemas because of this disruptive behavior. I'm not gonna pay money to be irritated.
We go to this aforementioned one this evening, woman comes in with her son, sits in front of us and RIGHT NEXT to a single woman. Her kid is talking (it's a kids movie, so fine) but she's playin' on her damm iphone. The woman gets up and leaves.
We're sitting in back of her, and the light from her phone is distracting. She turned and made some comment to my woman. We ignore her for a minute. She starts texting/taking pictures.
Finally, I've had enough of this shit. I learn forwards and say, "Yo, You want to turn that goddamm thing off?"
Her: "No, and she is kicking the seat."
Me: (with moral authority) "Hey-- SHUT UP."
She complains she's gonna get a cop. She goes down and gets mangt. I say fuck this, the movie's ruined for us. We come out to the lobby and here is this woman, complaining that we called her a "Nigger" (NO, I did not). I threw up my hands. You can't argue with that logic. Just give us our money back. We won't we going there again.
TL;DR version:
Just becasue a man with moral authority tells you to respect the rules, and tells you to Shut Up when you're wrong does not equal racism. It's not against the law to tell peole to shut their ignorant mouths.
Shit's getting out of hand. The West is doomed. Can't have anything nice, people fuck it up for everyone else and blame it on you: "It's your fault. You're sexist/racist/privileged. I should be able to do what I want."
IMHO: This behavior is Orlando in microcosm.
