Maybe we can mobilize the Temple for something positive?

Guys and gals, the NT/BJ stuff has me WAY too angry to be healthy. So I am going to share a little story. A bit over a decade ago, I completed a very strict VA drug\alcohol\homeless program and was recommended for a much longer one aimed at getting you a gig and a place as long as you kept giving clean DAUs. It was the CWT program and I think I mentioned the 2nd part of it on how I lost my TCaP virginity. Anyhow, I became really good friends with a guy from nearby West Virginia. They called us the odd couple. He was this huge hillbilly marine and I was this smaller, urbane Army vet. We are still very tight. Like any worthwhile relationship it has had its ups and downs. When you have 2 strong personalities, sparks fly and not always good ones. But most folks know the strongest friendships are those that survived a falling out or two. Well, March 8th, 2012 I received the most jarring text of my life, so far. "Thommy, call my Mom. I been shot" Yep, he was one of the WPIC shooting survivors. In fact, he was the 1st shot and had to play possum when that evil fucker crossed the hall another time. As you can imagine, it changed his, his family's and everyone who loves him's lives forever. Well, UPMC has yet to pay a dime but I want to avoid any negativity. He just passed the rigorous vetting for a true service dog. Training and him staying in Susquehanna, PA to also train with the dog is $50,000. Yep, you read that correctly. He can break it down for you. He may have to come up with that in the next month. AND If he EVER does get his settlement, his lawyer has the machinations in place that everyone who contributed can be paid back. A couple corporate sponsor's, my synagogue, and a RC church are trying to whittle it down to $35K but even that is an awful big chunk of change. So if you give this time, it won't be buying some lying fucking weasel's beer or poker chips.  IF you do give (and there is zero pressure, I will never bring it up again unless its wildly successful) add in the memo\comments "Temple TCaP friend of ThommyMac" and I will share with the Mods then the crew how much we did kick in. If no one does, ZERO hard feelings. I was playing Arkham City and getting madder and madder over the Ember thing and just posting this has calmed me down.
