Hi all! In my last post I alluded to trying to trying to preserve the original NBC show in the best quality possible, and now I'm putting my hunt out there for anyone who'd like to help! Welcome to the TCAP Archival Project!
EPISODE LIST:
I've made a list below which chronicles and links to the best current quality available online for each episode (as far as I'm aware) as well as what the best possible quality copy of the episode would be. I plan to update this list as hopefully these higher quality files are sourced and preserved.
Note: the currently available section links to a stream/download of the episode, for some reason the actual post doesn't really clearly indicate that these are links!
Colour coding guide:
The main series:
Predator Raw:
POTENTIAL LEADS:
GETTING INVOLVED:
What are we looking for?
The goal of this project is to preserve the show in the best possible quality, so any bit of help is greatly appreciated. If you have a higher quality copy of ANY of the episodes listed above, please get in contact with me so I can update the list. It doesn't have to be the MPEG-2 files mentioned above; if you have a copy that is in any way better than what is available currently, get in touch!
How can we get the MPEG-2 files mentioned above?
If you or someone you know has recorded any of the episodes using a PVR such as a TiVo and still has the original recordings, these are the files we're looking for in particular. As well as this, hunting down any of the leads above would also be a great help.
How should I get in touch?
Feel free to reply to this post if you'd like! You can also private message me on the site, or if you'd like to you can shoot me an email at tcaparchivist@gmail.com
Thank you so much for taking the time to read through the post, and any help that comes from this is greatly appreciated!

POTENTIAL LEADS:
- Internet Archive: the Internet Archive (archive.org) runs a TV News archive, which records and preserves news programming from various channels around the world, one of which happens to be MSNBC, which showed re-runs of some To Catch a Predator episodes. Downscaled, re-encoded 360p versions of these broadcasts can be streamed online, which have been ripped and preserved by me, but the original 480i/1080i MPEG-2 files can't be streamed online. Instead, there are two ways of obtaining these files, either through visiting the Internet Archive's San Francisco Library, or getting a USB stick delivered with the file. Since I live on the other side of the world this is not feasible for me, but if anyone would be keen to do this, it'd be an incredible help.
Disclaimer: after delving into this further it seems that copying of these programs is prohibited due to the copyright of the original program (thanks to mainepredator for looking into this!), so if you're looking to do this, it's at your own risk!
Below is a list of links to all of the episodes hosted by the Internet Archive:- To Catch a Predator - S01E06: Fort Myers, Florida, Part 1

- Special - To Catch a Con Man
- Special - To Catch an I.D. Thief
- NBC News Archives: NBC themselves have an archive of news programming, hosted by Getty Images. The likelihood of obtaining these files from this source is highly unlikely (and likely to be incredibly expensive), but worth trying nevertheless. Listed below are some episodes I've found on here, but this list is not exhaustive and it's likely many more episodes can be found on here:
- Temple of TCAP user "ttbfmc": when looking through old threads on the forum, this particular post caught my eye; a user claiming to have MPEG-2 original files of episodes. Unfortunately, it seems as if they went M.I.A. before uploading these files, so if you're reading this, please get in touch!
