Jims blood alcohol levels

I bet the sobering up the next morning was pretty horrific. Headache, acid in the back of your throat, stomach doing backflips. And you have a vague recollection of cops egging you along to talk and talk and talk and talk. And breaking a lot of laws. Sexual laws and traffic laws. That was a rough morning I bet.

He definitely pre-gamed pretty hard.  What's interesting to me is he recites the directions correctly while on the phone.  Then gets into the car for a 1 hour goose chase and then complains to Kathryn and Tom that the directions were "terrible".     And if I had to guess his BAC was climbing and peaked during the questioning.

First off, Jim never called the decoy during the 1 hour trip to the trap house. The decoy called Jim, telling him that he couldn’t call her because her “mom has incoming calls blocked”.

Now, with that out of the way, I’ve always wondered if there was at least one more call that we weren’t made aware of, a call preceding the first one where Jim is “getting ready to get on the road”. Remember at one point the decoy asks Jim about juice and his reply is “I know I said I’d like a vodka & tonic but I’m fine”? Well, Jim never said that in the chat or in any of the calls we have, plus if Jim had mentioned drinks before in an unreleased call it might explain the decoy offering Jim some juice, maybe as a mixer.

As far as Jim’s BAC, I agree with others on here who have said it was most likely peaking as he left his house on Brandy Way. My guess is that Jim was chugging Vodka&Tonics for some liquid courage to be able to climb in his champagne Aztek and get on the road. From the way he was slurring and narrowly avoiding accidents during the call, he must have been good’n drunk. His BAC had to be sky-high because he’s still drunk during his interrogation, though he sobers up noticeably towards the end of the tape.

I imagine Jim’s next few days were pure Hell. I think we did the math once and it was most likely early morning before Jim arrived at County Jail, got through processing, got to a bunk, and got to lay down and think. His bond was set at $100k cash and was that way at least up until his arraignment a few days later. It was amended later to cash/surety/property, allowing Jim to bond out, and we know this because we’ve seen the records showing that his sister put up $30k, his son $20k, and Jim put his house on the line for the other half. Imagine Daddy Jim, hungover, calling Junior up at 4:30am, begging Jr to do SOMETHING to get Daddy out of jail for trying to fuck a child?

I'm not disputing his state but I wonder if diabetes (Wilford Brimley voice) and medication contributed to his state. Some diabetes medications can cause a hypo episode up to a day later.

I'm not excusing Jim or saying he should have been driving. I'm also certain he had a few vodka tonics before hitting the highway. I would be curious as to what medication he was taking and how much he had drunk the day before.

I've always thought Jim got progressively drunk during his interrogation. He's clearly slurring his words more as the interview goes on, culminating in him literally falling asleep (and I don't think that's solely down to the time). That's a clear indiction he was downing vodka on the way imho. It hits you progressively.

Also - I ordered my first ever vodka tonic at a work event solely because it's what Jim drinks/drank (we still don't know for sure if he's alive or past that stage now)

I watch a lot of the drunk driving arrests on you tube, I'm guessing he would have blown at least 1.5 or higher.
