16-year-old girl from my town missing for over a month

Thought you guys might find this interesting. Long story short, this creepy guy in his 50's (Steven Bacon) who has previously been convicted of sex crimes groomed a 16-year-old girl, said he wanted to adopt her, and had her move in with him. She goes missing, and he goes missing very shortly after and is found weeks later in Thunder Bay, Ontario (3100 km away or nearly 2000 miles for you Americans) and police initially ruled him out as a suspect but as the plot thickens they are now thinking he's involved, they just don't have any solid evidence yet (that they've publicly released)
Rumour is around town that Bacon was hired by the Hell's Angels to kidnap/murder her, because the girl's father, Kerry Chang, is a career criminal who was previously arrested for firearms charges a few months before her disappearance but had $6000 or $7000 (forget the exact amount) in cash that was confiscated by the RCMP, which was allegedly owed to the Hell's Angels, so they took his daughter as collateral/payback. I think it's a bit far-fetched but then again we don't live in a make-sense world.
The worst part is, the girl's grandmother and father both previously complained to police that the man was grooming her, but the police said that since she's 16 and meets the age of consent, there was nothing they could do about it. I actually tutored Makayla when I was in high school, so I've been following this case very closely. It's so unreal.
Personally I think she died from a drug overdose and Steven Bacon is covering it up, and ditched her body in the woods. I consulted my father who is a retired police officer and he agreed with my theory. She had a history of drug use (her father says she isn't into drugs, but she absolutely is. Anyone who knows her know that.) Also, two of my coworkers said they saw her at Tim Horton's (which is where she met Bacon) shortly after she was listed missing and she high out of her mind on something and when people asked her if she was okay she said she was waiting for a ride. Somebody recognized her and called the police, but she was alerted to this and ran off, leaving behind a suitcase. The suitcase contained copious amounts of clothing, leading us to believe she was either planning to run away with Steven Bacon, or move in with him.
The most alarming thing to me is that she hasn't posted on social media since her disappearance. She ALWAYS posted stuff, like every 15 minutes. It is completely out of character to be so inactive. I really do think something has happened to her.
Also, that guy on the bike who let Bacon live in his basement (3rd link) totally knows something.
