I'm bored as heck and recently just learned this, so I figured I'd share it and see if anyone think there's anything funny goin' on, dawg.
My brother, who I've mentioned before, lives a bit of a charmed life in Mexico, getting by on our parents' dime, while he does nothing but spend his time golfing. He apparently recently met an older couple from Alberta and went golfing with them, I don't know how many times, and apparently the older gentleman informed him that they were soon travelling back home, but actually owned a condo in this Mexican city. He informed my brother that, since he is obviously a nice guy, he is more than welcome to live in the condo rent-free while they are away. He need not worry about paying rent or any major bills, he just needs to pay for his own groceries, the maid [!], and the light bill. Everything else would be taken care of.
I'm not sure about you guys, but there seems to be so much missing from the story that the Japanese steakhouse story seems credible in comparison. Who the hell basically says, 'Hey young man I barely know, feel free to live expense-free in my condo while I live in another part of the world! We'll even throw in a maid!'? What's more is that our folks think this is a wonderful opportunity for him [most likely because they're relieved about no longer having to pay his rent] rather than asking the obvious question of: 'What TF is actually going on down there?'
So a couple of things come to mind from this whole thing:
1. Do you think this is an unbelievably odd scenario [and quite a bit missing from the story]?
2. Am I bitter over the fact that I worked hard to get my teacher qualifications, a Masters degree, then work 40 hours a week, only to get saddled with huge alimony payments and toil away in poverty-stricken anonymity while my useless brother lives in a tropical paradise with no expense? Nah, of course not....
