Unpopular TCAP Opinions

I can't speak to others, but I can tell you about my thought process. I'm sure this will get me heat. But, I'm coming from a place of desire for intellectual discourse and mutual understanding.

First off, and this one I've said before...there are no real victims in TCaP cases, save for Wallach's son. I just can't feel sorry for someone who is imaginary. I'm sorry, but I can't. I just can't. Second, though I'm married now, I was single during the run of TCaP. I spent my fair share of time in chat rooms. I can tell you that chat rooms are just like real life when it comes to meeting people, in that women have an extreme advantage over men when it comes to finding someone to talk to. So, though Hansen makes it sound easy to find women to talk to in chat rooms, I can tell you from first-hand experience...it wasn't any easier to pick up on chicks in a chat room than it was in real life. If you were having an easy time with a woman in a chat room, odds are excellent that it wasn't really a woman...maybe a PJ decoy.

I know Hansen and some around here really want predators to be apples to apples comparison, but I assure you they're just not. When it comes to our preds, I look at a few things. Have they done this before? Have they done it since? How old were they?

Also, what did they look like? Where were they in their lives? Should they have been able to have some success with women outside of the chat room realm, or even inside of it before disregarding someone's age?

Losers like Stacy and Ambrosio and Lubrano have the same needs as the rest of us do. I'm fully aware that society at large doesn't give a fuck. But, not giving a fuck about something doesn't just magically make it go away. Just because their problem doesn't have a place in your mind or your heart doesn't mean it doesn't exist elsewhere. These guys are lonely, they have no success with women, they're desperate for female company, they hit up the chat rooms where it's far easier to find a PJ weirdo pretending to be a girl than it is an actual girl. They finally find someone to talk to them, they get the attention and acceptance they've so desperately been craving, and their moral compass gets a little skewed and they go, as Warner referred to it, "a little overboard". They fall in to the trap then become characters on our favorite TV show.

I am in no way excusing their behavior or sympathizing with it. I will ignore any idiot who tries to claim otherwise. I am just giving you a plausible and likely theory of what led to their behavior. What these guys did was wrong. They should have been stronger. And, who knows...if the girl was real, assuming the girl didn't ask him to leave maybe the pred would've had a pang of conscience or at least discomfort at the last minute and not went through with it. We don't know.

When it comes to preds, based on what their motives were for their behavior dictates whether or not I can forgive their behavior and to what level. That's why I can forgive a young, pathetic, desperate loser who was just starved for attention and grabbed on to the first thing that would give it to them far more than I can forgive someone like Westerbeck who was nearing 50 and still targeted underage kids because he's just fucked in the head and evil, really. And, unlike Westerbeck, in the cases of Lubrano and Stacy, et al, no one was hurt but them...and anyone who has to listen to Stacy's voice.

I can't forgive guys like Baggett or Ahia or Couture. These guys had plenty of tools to get girls their own age outside of chat rooms. I can't forgive any guy who was ~15 years older than the imaginary decoy. I can't forgive any guy who was married. He already had access to sex and attention. He didn't need to seek it elsewhere.

But, forgiveness aside, if you want to stop any sort of behavior you need to first understand what causes it. Despite his many claims to the contrary, Hansen has zero desire to understand these guys. He thinks they're all the same. They're not.

I'm not telling anyone how to feel...I'm just telling you how I feel.
