The Bawston Cap did him a lot of good back in his 30s. He looks almost cherubic in his interaction with Casey. With the cap on ones mind pictures Lorne with a full head of hair and that does wonders for his looks. Of course, with the grey hair, swollen nose, drooping features, and wrinkles/creases that the shade from the bill of a cap can no longer hide, Lorne looks every bit his age and even more than that.

Juxtapose Lorne with Hansen. Hansen has a good 10 years on Lorne but even though Hansen has abused his body by living an unhealthy lifestyle for years, a combination of genetics and 5 star healthcare have kept him looking much better than Lorne even today.

He still thinks that clean shaving makes him look younger, lmao.

It’s a combination of poor genetics, poor diet, decades of chain-smoking/excessive consumption of alcohol, stress, and subpar health/dental care.

You don’t need to wonder, it’s absolutely beneficial to him. Who else in the world is there to whisper sweet nothings in his ear as he jacks off onto the kitchen counter in The Trailer? Who else is there to help him convince himself that all his dreams will someday come true instead of having to face the fact that what Lorne is right now is all he’ll ever be? Who other than them will trot their asses up to Maine to share some Christmas cheer with Lorne? The catfish are all Lorne has for emotional support. Mama Gwen helps Lorne out of a misguided sense of responsibility but she doesn’t buy any of his bullshit and neither does Roy or Aunt Sharon or Uncle Clayt. His POs/therapist consider him a lost cause, he won’t take advantage of what support his rape class group could provide because he believes himself to be better than them because he nevah even menta dewit. If it wasn’t for the catfish Lorne would be totally alone in the world to have to face the reality of his situation, there would be no one to play pretend with him and without anyone else playing Lorne can’t make himself believe in any of it. That would be Hell for Lorne, losing his only friends but he never will because they “need” Lorne as much as he needs them, and the cycle continues until Lorne eventually dies.

Long story short, the worst punishment for Lorne would be for the catfish to sever contact with Lorne and no new catfish to take up the cause. That’ll never happen though so Lorne will spend the rest of his days enjoying the TV show in his head, written, produced, and starring his catfish.

It took me a little while to figure it out, but I now agree he's just going along with it because it's literally all he'll ever have. A weird TV show that spins around him. All of his co-stars have issues, too.

I was watching the music video for the Genesis song "Turn It On Again" recently and and thought the lyrics describe Lorne pretty darn good.

I agree that he believes this shit but he only believes it because he wants to believe it and the catfish help him to believe it by agreeing with him, enabling him, and facilitating his fantasies. Without them, he wouldn’t be able to continue to believe in his fantasyland bullshit any more because there’s no one left in Somerset County willing to play the game with him.
