Who: Chris Watts
When: 2018
What: Killed his pregnant wife and two daughters of 4 and 3 years of age, 2 months after gaining a lover. This is called family annihilation, and usually the killer commits suicide, which Watts didnt.
Why is it good: This is a real classic that has been doing the rounds on youtube. As Watts returns to his home, a friend of his wife has already called the cops and reported her missing, as she didnt show up for a doctors appointment they were planning to go to together. Watts has not even had time to remove evidence from the house, and is a deer in the headlights as we get to watch the bodycam footage of the cops responding to the scene and helping him search for his wife. Later he spins the craziest stories in police interrogation before finally confessing. He even agrees to take a lie detector test, and we get to see him fail on camera.
Result: Life in prison.
First police interview:
Police Body Cam
The full 6 hour interview containing all parts, detector and confessin and post-confession talk
A highlight is Watts getting to see himself on camera taking the body of his wife (more or less) on the security footage of his neighbors doorbell camera. The neighbor keeps looking at Watts and to the police officer, as if to say. "Cant you see this guy is guilty!"
The Watts family murders occurred in Frederick, Colorado, United States, during the early morning hours of August 13, 2018. Christopher Lee Watts (born May 16, 1985)[1] admitted to murdering his pregnant wife Shanann Cathryn Watts (née Rzucek; born January 10, 1984) by strangulation. He later admitted to killing their daughters, four-year-old Bella and three-year-old Celeste, by smothering them with a blanket over their heads. On November 6, 2018, Watts pleaded guilty to multiple counts of first-degree murder as part of a plea deal when the death penalty (which was later abolished in Colorado in 2020) was removed from sentencing. He was sentenced to five life sentences without the possibility of parole, three to be served consecutively.

Bonus:
His girlfriend Nicole was also interviewed by the cops. Though no charges were filed against her, she seems to have google Watts's wife in 2017, searched for wedding dresses on google and desired the life of Watts' wife. Her part in the family murders were never mapped entirely out imo, and she seems completely unempathic in the interview.
