Movies you hate that everyone else loves

Everyone seemed to love The Cabin in the Woods. I thought it was one of, if not the worst, movies I've ever watched. Not scary, not funny, not intelligent. You swore it was groundbreaking. Scream deconstructed the horror genre a lot better 20 years before this and still managed to balance the scares and the laughs.

Sadly the style seen in The Cabin in the Woods seems to be permeating the horror genre at the moment. Happy Death Day got similarly good reviews, and while it was better than Cabin, it was pretty passable once you got past the admittedly good concept.

I haven't watched Get Out and I don't plan on watching Us, but everything I've heard about those movies makes me believe they would be just as shit and pretentious as The Cabin in the Woods.

I wish Jordan Peele had nothing to do with the upcoming Candyman remake.

I'm sure he'll handle it better than the last 2 movies 

Casino and Goodfellas: I really wanna know why people like these films. I found them both incredibly boring. Too much talking and no likable characters. The clown scene with Joe Pesci is annoying.

I didn't understand the fascination with 'Millers Crossing.' People often cite that as their favorite Cohen Brothers film, while I was thoroughly unimpressed.

Oh, and 'American History X' blows.

While I cant answer why people like Casino, as I think it is long, overproduced and not really that exciting, I feel I can answer why Goodfellas is so popular. The whole goodfellas film run like a music video, with some of the most catchy music from the 1950s and 1960s. The dialogue between the characters are quick and witty, and the rise of a nobody hoodlum to feared and respected mafioso is a very interesting character study.

In addition, Ray Liottas character is not truly a sociopath like his fellow gangsters, making him more relatable. We are given a view inside a world run by other rules and morals than we normally do. Some have said that both Goodfellas and The Sopranos are black comedies. I think they make good points.

The second half of Goodfellas, is filmed in a very different style than the first half, to represent the 1970s and Liottas character being on drugs all the time. I usually turn of the film around that time, which is when the film begin to drag.

I can get why movies like Casino or Heat may be hard for some people to watch because they are dense and hard to follow and you need to concentrate, but I can't understand why someone wouldn't like Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, American History X or Goodfellas. These are accessible movies you can easily pick up and follow. Any time they're on TV I'm tempted to watch.

Personally I can't stand shit like Star Wars and Star Trek and can't understand why they're cultural cornerstones.

Whose bright idea was it to make Scary Movie 3 PG-13? Completely fucked up the franchise. Scary Movie 1 and 2 were brilliant. 3 and on were AWFUL.

I hate almost all movies. Movies are for retards.

It was a real cool film in 1999 before everything was matrixized in the action genre. The shootout scenes had great music, humour and the wilhelm dafoe character and everything else was so much cooler than simimar vigilantee or crime spree films...
