I have a strong feeling (you're either under cover, or a cop) that the reason why Lorne Armstrong went after little girls (at least in part) is because he wanted to have children himself. However, somewhere in his twisted brain, the wires got crossed and his desires for sex and companionship got twisted around with his desire to have children.
So why do I think this? After listening to the original Lorne phone calls a few times, I realized that, aside from the sex stuff, he talks to Kayla much in the same way that a father would talk to his precious daughter. Terms like precious little princess, little baby girl, sweetheart, honey (hi hunnay), could all be terms of endearment that a father would say to a beloved daughter.
At the time that Lorne got caught, he was already in his mid-30s (35, 39, 35, 46). I'm not sure if men really have biological clocks in the same way that women supposedly do. But if they do, I think Lorne was probably hitting a confluence of both wanting children, and wanting companionship/sex.
Is this an excuse for Lorne? No. As was demonstrated by perverted justice, Lorne talked to at least three decoys and [Cawd] knows how many real children around that timeframe, or earlier. If my suspicion is correct, and Lorne just simply wanted children, that's no excuse for engaging with real or supposed children with sexual dialogue, and naked pictures. He should have gotten counseling (to get off tha'innernette...mgawd).
I started thinking about this because I have a daughter of my own. She was born around the same time I started doing this Hiss Cranson thing. As I've watched her grow-up, I find myself talking to her and using terms that seem like they could come out of Lorne's mouth. That is, only the terms of endearment, none of the sexual content. In a way, that makes me nervous (are you nervous?).
I also highly suspect that because Lorne grew up without a father, he probably has no idea what it means to be a father. He's probably facing the instincts of desiring fatherhood, but he grew up completely lacking any such role models. Therefore, perhaps he doesn't know how to separate fatherly love and sex.
Or I'm just completely fucking wrong, and Lorne is just a sicko.
Also, sorry if this has been discussed before. I was never... really... gonna do anything.
