His years of watching old sappy romance movies has made that mush brain of his think writing poetry, using pet names and love bombing will win a woman over, rather than physical looks, financial stability, and/or a charismatic personality (all the things Lorne lacks).
I doubt Roy ever wrote a po-uhm to get in a woman’s pants.
I'm trying to pinpoint when writing women poetry would have ever worked for Lorne beyond the 6th grade for him to still glom onto it decades later that he was sending them to make believe loan agents. Any woman reading Lorne's childish poems where he rhymes house by shoehorning something that's close to being mouse would have ever impressed anyone. If anything his poems gives the impression that they are written by someone still in middle school and possibly will fail to make it to the next grade level.
What woman would even be in the mood for that? Some random unsolicited poetry? Lorne doesn't even seem to evoke any emotion into these odes to his slawtfaces. What he does often do however is communicate how much he enjoys stalking them and does so unknowingly in his stanzas, he even seems to appreciate just how much of a stalker he is especially in his poems to the decoy with lines like "there's a difference in our age which makes it really difficult BUT THAT WON'T STOP ME from showing you my heart and what love is all about" from one of his poems he sent her 4 or 5 days into their "relationship".
I don't think Lorne writes poetry because he actually enjoys it, I could be wrong on that. I see it more as the one way Lorne or atleast a young Lorne at the time was able to find a way to for him to present the intellect he thinks he has, because I doubt it was reflected in his grammar skills, aptitude or school grades. His poetry was likely the only time someone said "keep up the great work there, Shakespeare!" or something along the lines of backhanded positive reinforcement.
If poetry works on sixth graders that's probably exactly why he still writes it.
