You do you. Nothing is going to be unanimous. The sheer amount of content produced around Lorne speaks for itself. But not everyone will agree and that’s fine.

I would actually argue the original aired interview doesn't do as much justice as the uncut version. "You're one of those weirdos!"

When the show first aired, I initially thought he was just a very lonely and mentally ill man who was coerced into showing up due to how emotional he was and the line about wanting to get married. Keep in mind this is before knowing all I know now. While he is definitely lonely and possibly mentally ill, the chatlog and even uncut interview show he is a lot more devious than let on. The you have the lawlsuits, full police interview and youtube videos he produced.

However, I understand some people do find him to be boring. Many people are also immediately turned off by the post TCAP content as they do not like the idea of catfishing or "gayops" which makes up 90% of the content now.

Lorne was on TCAP, but he is also a lolcow. He is superhumanly susceptible to catfishing and has been getting catfished well before (and after) TCAP. I think a lot of people here are mostly here for that, many hours of calls have been recorded over the years. If you are fascinated with people like Chris Chan then I think Lorne is the Walmart store-brand of that. I like Longmont Potion Castle a lot too and Lorne scratches a similar itch.

In the context of TCAP alone I agree he is nothing particularly special.

If you're asking for specific calls, most of them are on Youtube. It's hard to think of where to even recommend starting but Lorne's Big Adventure, The TSA Call, Lorne's Ruined Orgasm, and Cheffrey are all pretty great and a good litmus test I think for if you would like this sort of thing. You should be able to find them just by searching, I can track down links if you need help though. If nothing stands out from those then it's probably just not your thing, it is a very niche fandom so don't feel bad if you don't "get it".

Lorne is less a TCAP predator and more a full blown lolcow. So if you’re into lolcows it’s pretty self explanatory. Lorne has a lot of behaviors we recognize in ourselves and others (jealousy, insecurity) but cranked up to a comedic and exploitable level. So the entertainment is both seeing a bad person have bad things happen to them, as well as a voyeuristic look into how shit some people can actually be.

Plus he’s unintentionally funny. Stuff like “chef boy-ar-bitchface” or “he’s seen ya titless!” Are just funny.

Lorne would be a serial killer, but deep down he knows he's not smart enough to pull it off. Not to mention if a woman went missing in his area he'd probably be the first person the police would look at it.

It wasn't until I listened to Great Bapstby's chat log reading that I began to realize the differences between Lorne & other TCAP Predators. 
To this day I still think his segment is near the bottom of his episode let alone all of TCAP combined but it's not about the segment. 
I've read a ridiculous amount of PJ's chatlogs & there are things in his I've never seen in any others. It's very easy for your brain to shut down when he  asks her if she wants to see "IT" for the 50th time in the first week but if you are just reading on automatic pilot you will forget alot of the real insane conversations & remember the entire chat log as being nothing but that.

But ultimately it's one of those things where you're either into it or have no interest whatsoever.  No middle ground 

I've been toying with the idea for a while that he's legitimately the anti-christ. Like if you compare Lorne to Jesus he's literally the inverse in every way, and if you were aiming to be a good person you could always ask yourself "What would Lorne do?" in any situation and do the opposite.

I think what started it was the length of the chatlog, and how weird it got for me-the fact that he was dirt poor, moving to Nashville to become a country singer. The catfish calls. I get why people might not think his Chris Hansen segment isn't that great or memorable. I'm a huge fan of the Jim Rauch interrogation, but it's a long video and I understand why some might not be a fan of watching it

Can’t forget that he has never truly graduated rape class after over a decade because he STILL blames his desire to molest children on his siblings not providing him with 3 cheap appetizer dishes for Christmas.

For me, up until maybe a year ago or so, I had no idea who Lorne was. I would watch old TCAP videos on YouTube from time to time, and I think I had noticed in the comments section of a lot of TCAP videos that people were mentioning Lorne. I ended up finding Lorne's TCAP segment and I honestly don't remember ever seeing it before. I couldn't understand the hype either as I felt his TCAP segment was very meh in comparison to those who showed up naked for example.

I kept trying to "get" what all the hype around Lorne was and stumbled onto his chat log, and then the YouTube videos by ImSortaKindaBored. That's when I really fell into everything that was Lorne because I couldn't believe someone was this stubbornly stupid, with no redeeming qualities, and falling for the most asinine ploys on calls. I really thought there was no way; this had to be orchestrated somehow (other than the catfish I mean). 

Then ended up finding the temple and just lurked for awhile going through all sorts of threads, finding the dump, etc. 

I think the reason Lorne appeals to me so much is because he (unfortunately) reminds me of several people in my life (I'll call them Lornelite's). My Lornelite's are not exactly like Lorne, but there's enough of an overlap that digging into Lorne has been cathartic for me and has helped me cope with the situation. Lorne has also been a really good cautionary tale/teaching tool as my Lornelite's have enough awareness to be able to see Lorne's faults very clearly (although not their own) and I have been using Lorne to help them see the parallels in their own lives. It is slowly working; I am seeing improvement gradually and at least one of my Lornelite's is becoming slowly more self aware, empathetic, and is actually trying to stop their bowlchit. 

So yeah that's the appeal for me. But I totally get how Lorne doesn't appeal to everyone. 

My life took the most entertaining downhill dive from the moment I came across that endearing butterball's terrific content.
