I saw an interview with the bozo who owned it, and he was bragging about how it was steered by a Playstation controller. You only had to look at it to see what a piece of shit that sub was. It looked like something off Robot Wars

I saw people were making jokes about it before they found the debris. I didn’t think it was funny but I also don’t feel sorry for most of them. It’s just an unfortunate tragedy. My thoughts are with the families.

Doesn't look like that was the issue. And as much as people love pointing out the Playstation controller, that wasn't the issue either, it was probably working just fine.

The issue was how it was constructed. Carbon fiber is strong and light, but isn't as resistant as metal to the fatigue of extreme stress and relief cycles that are required to dive that deep and resurface repeatedly. Also reportedly using a viewing window that is only rated for 1300 meters when you are going below 4000, is just asking for death.

Yeah it wasn't the issue on this occasion but they've just had a glimpse into what might happen if communication is lost. Surely there needs to be a manual override anyway.

Way before even the wreck of the titanic there was a book written called ”Futility: The Wreck of the Titan”. It mirrors aspects of the Titanic in a lot of ways. And it’s eerie because it was written years before. But in the book, the main character saves a girl and fights a polar bear on an iceberg. That would have Ben cool to see DiCaprio do that.
