The "Predators I've caught" Megathread

Agree to disagree. There can be a wishlist of things we'd like to see but no indication these things will come to fruition. Though I'll say it be nice if they did.

As far being more useful than soundboards and prank calls, meh I'll give you that, but it's a low bar to set and not really the hill to die on.

My biggest issue with the podcast, I suppose, is that Hansen claims to provide updates on where these guys are now. Now, I've only listened to two or three, but these updates are also what we already knew. Idk man. To me his podcast is the equivalent of being offered a quality meal and getting McDonald's instead.

This is how I feel "relevant for tcap fandom" translates. HvP were real episodes, and gave Classic TCAP new shelf life. A podcast format rehashing the old stuff is perhaps relevant for some on this site and elsewhere, but we'd be interested in the TCAP phenomenom anyway.

JJ suggested that Captain Hydra aka Christopher Peter Hansen is worthwhile keeping around as a mascot, which I guess might be true. He got some new material released from the "season 2" single segment of HvP, with the paddle guy. Which I guess is nice to shift through.

Entertaining episode. CH definitely let his true feelings show and it increases the quality so much more than “we rented this beautiful house, Ron Knight was there, etc.” You can tell Kendall repulsed him. I think this episode had the least amount of fluff or pre-sting backstory beyond just the Murphy people being pissed.

The last ten minutes or so I really enjoyed, Stanley talking to ‘Derek”

Hansen describes the Murphy investigation as one of "the most successful investigations we've done."
Let that sink in.
Not one predator was prosecuted. Not one. As Hansen admits, one would later offend. The rest would continue to walk the streets and pose a threat to children in the community. Like Stanley who clearly was deranged and unrepentant.
No wait- one wouldn't pose a threat because the investigation culminated in him blowing his brains out.
Still, Hansen pats himself on the back for an extraordinarily successful investigation that ultimately and directly led to TCAP being cancelled. CANCELLED. Not sure by what criteria Hansen uses to judge success, but I've already ranted previously about his incompetence and lack of professionalism.
No, the fault was entirely the DA's. He should have done his job and prosecuted these men. TCAP, in Hansen's words, had been "batting 1,000 apart from this investigation"- the one which was coincidentally one of "the most successful investigations we've done." Now, no discussion was offered as to the DA's reasons beyond the involvement of PJ and the Conrad case, mentioned in a single line. Something about it being an election year. Whatever. The DA must have had his reasons based on his professional judgement and experience. If so, Hansen's not interested.
Then there's the Esquire article criticising Murphy police (heard barking like a pack of dogs in heat at a man in his sixties wearing glasses "that came from the 1970s). Also attacked Hansen from what I remember, but Hansen doesn't mention that. In fact, Hansen just tosses the article- from a respected magazine- as "shoddy." That's it. No discussion of its criticisms. No explanation as to what exactly it got wrong, or what made the article "shoddy." The writer, Luke Dittrich, is a National Magazine Award–winning journalist, contributing editor at Esquire and has published a book through Penguin. Here's a link to his article- read it and tell me what's "shoddy" about it; clearly Hansen's employers at NBC thought it was compelling enough to immediately cancel their cash cow:

But then, that's Hansen as I mentioned in my last review. He throws out ad hominens and snide passive aggressive comments against everyone who didn't offer him unqualified support and respect without ever bothering to respond directly.

Really good and informative episode, as someone who was unfamiliar with Constantinescu‘s post-TCAP story.

Good, serviceable entry into the series. What stood out was the soundtrack. Read the following from 13.00 in:


Now if Dashiell Hammett or Raymond Chandler wrote that, they wouldn't have gotten very far in the writing business. But listen to it with the spooky music in the background and note how much more ominous it sounds.

Who is conducting the interview? What is the context? The link doesn't offer much information. As always, it seems to be limited to people asking questions or making statements in the comment section, such as "Wow she looks good and Clean proud of her" followed by "She was killed... You Moron!"
Was she killed? The podcast/upload offers no info other than that she died.

Between this and Stanley Kendall, I’m firmly now in the boat that this podcast should almost be exclusively about people whose pre or post-TCAP background involves some serious shit. Bodnar too but I didn’t like that episode. Maybe do a simple one once in a while.

It is basically a more professional rip-off of the "where are they now" series now. In podcast format. The real question is who writes the stuff for Hansen. He's been fairly coherent in his ramblings the past two episodes. One might suspect some renegade tcap member with hansenite leanings is dripping him stuff. If so, Hansen is still the same old sock puppet he always was.

No new episode today? What gives? Is Hansen too busy heading to Greene Co., VA to try and score a jailhouse interview with ChrisChan?
