Is Lorne one of Stephen King's monsters?

I think Creepshow was enjoyable because of George Romero's direction more than anything King had to do with it. George can be pretty hit and miss himself, but I think his direction lended alot of quality to Creepshow. "The Crate" and "They creep up on you" are the best stories, but Leslie Nielsen played a great asshole/villain in the beach story.

I'm imagining Lorne as the Leslie Nielsen character burying Winnie and Dan or Ramona and the Doctuh up to their necks on the beach in revenge for their cheating, then getting his comeuppance from their ghouls.

"The Crate" was the best. That fucking blood everywhere was so gross. And I can't remember the lady's name (she was in Swamp Thing too) was such a bitch I found myself cheering when the monster got her. When he yanked her head into his jaws it just shawked the shit out of me. And as corny as it was, the Father's Day segment was pretty wild. I still use the "WHERE'S MY FATHER'S DAY CAKE BEDILIA! (replaced by VICTORIA of course)" line every Father's Day since I became a dad. The Beach Drowning segment was 3rd on my list followed by the Meteor and last was the Cockroaches as I felt it was pretty stupid. The second Creepshow was pretty forgettable with "The Raft" being the only halfway decent segment. 

And even though I hated all of the adaptations I still tried to watch them. "The Tommyknockers" started off promising and even used lines directly from the book. It went downhill after the first 5 minutes and 3/4 of the book is missing. I was pretty excited for the "Bag of Bones" adaptation as I really loved the book but it too sucked. The effects were awful and the casting forgettable. That is the only other King book I can see Lorne being a part of. Specifically where the gang of Maine hillbillies gang rape the black lady. The last one I watched was "Desperation". Again, top notch book, suck ass movie. I had heard rumours that the companion novel, "Regulators" was supposed to get an adaptation too but was stopped after the first movie bombed. But then again it might have just been internet forum rumours. 

I actually liked the Kubrick version of The Shining more than King's.

he can’t write any characters but his standard “Mainer” characters well, regardless of skin tone. King usually resorts to tired and offensive stereotypes when writing ALL of his human characters. I read a lot of his stuff back in High School, 20-some-odd years ago, and read a book or 2 of his later stuff as well and it’s always been true of him.

The other thing I can’t stand about him is how much of an asshole he is when it comes to adaptations of his work. He spent a couple of DECADES bitching about how he hated Kubrick’s take on “The Shining” and how a 100% authentic-to-the-book movie would have been better. Then when he finally got the chance, and the 4 hour long completely by-the-book version was made it totally flopped because it sucked. He did the same thing to a lesser extent with “Christine”. That’s a 500 page book that’s about 200 pages too long. It’s painfully obvious that King knows NOTHING about cars/mechanics from reading the book, and there’s no way you could pack all of that book into a 2 hour movie, yet he bitched and moaned about the screen version and how John Carpenter screwed up. If King has such a problem with the way his works were being adapted, why didn’t he just refuse to cash the checks or insist on the movies adhering to the books in the contracts he signed when he sold the rights? King is the kind of guy who complains because he just like complaining. Rain or shine, night or day, always complaining.

I do agree with earlier posts stating that he DOES have talent, though, and is a good storyteller. He’s just not my cup of tea. My wife likes him well enough, though.
