Hello fellow TCAPers and fans!
As you all may be well aware, the original TCAP episodes have started to disappear from the far reaches of the internet including YouTube (largely due to YouTube's policies on explicit content, sensitive legal information, privacy, "bullying and harassment guidelines", and of course, copyright claims from NBC Universal). Yes, there are the usual re-uploads with some of kind of graphic or border obstructing the picture and even high-pitched audio, but we don't waste our time with those. At the time of this post, the episodes are not even available on Peacock. NBC has done everything possible to erase this very important piece of television history. And after nearly 20 years since the first investigation premiered on TV, people still want to see the original episodes.
The answer: To Catch A Predator - The Restoration Project!
Q: What is the "TCAP Restoration Project"?
A: The TCAP Restoration Project is a fan-made home video project made by TCAPers... for TCAPers. This project consists of all 22 episodes of the original TCAP investigations in the cleanest, best way possible... in their original uncut broadcast versions. Multiple sources were used for this project, including VHS rips, DVD rips, DVR rips, YouTube rips, and others from the seven seas if you know what I mean. As an added bonus, all 8 episodes of "Predator Raw: The Unseen Tapes" are also included, featuring extended interviews and scenes from the cutting room floor.
Q: Why was the Restoration Project started?
A: Two important reasons: PRESERVATION and EDUCATION. As TCAP holds a very special place in television history, it is important to preserve it so that is not lost forever... and so future generations can see it. And while the technology featured in TCAP has drastically changed in the last 20 years, it is also important to revisit this series so we can better understand how a predator's mind works and how we can educate our children about the dangers of the internet.
Q: Is there a list of episodes included with this project?
A: YES! Below is a list of the episodes included with this project with additional notes:
-TCAP 1 - Bethpage, Long Island - CI Network 2007 Airing, much cleaner picture than the NBC airing circulating on the web
-TCAP 2 - Fairfax County, VA - MSNBC Airing - low quality, but includes the full episode (the NBC airing on DailyMotion and YT was missing the first 5 minutes)
-TCAP 3 - Riverside, CA - MSNBC Airing - Full 2-Hour Special
-TCAP 4 - Greenville, OH - Parts 1 & 2 - NBC Airing
-TCAP 5 - Fort Myers, FL - Parts 1 & 2 - MSNBC Airing
-TCAP 5B - "Where Are They Now?" - Special Episode with Updates on the first 5 Investigations
-TCAP 6 - Fortson, GA - Parts 1 & 2 - MSNBC Airing

Q: How can I watch the TCAP Restoration Project?
A: The TCAP Restoration Project will be available via a made-on-demand SD Blu-ray Disc set. This will be a 3-Disc set. The first 2 discs will include the TCAP episodes, with Disc 3 featuring the "Predator Raw" episodes. This set has been completed and is ready for your Blu-ray players.
Q: What is a SD Blu-ray Disc?
A: A standard Blu-ray Disc that exclusively features Standard Definition video content. One 25GB Blu-ray disc can store up to 2 hours of 1080p High Definition video content. The same 25GB Blu-ray disc can hold up to 10 hours of SD video content as SD video uses less disc space than HD video. Because the TCAP episodes were shot in SD, and because the sources for this project vary in quality, they would not benefit from a High Definition upscale. Instead, the episodes are presented in their original SD format. A SD Blu-ray set is also more shelf-friendly than a multi-disc DVD box set. SD Blu-rays will also play on any Blu-ray player worldwide, including Xbox One X, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5 game consoles.
Q: Will there be a DVD version of the Restoration Project?
A: At this time, there are no plans for a DVD version. DVDs are more expensive to produce and, in the case of TCAP, would require additional discs, production time, and shelf room.
Q: Will there be a downloadable version of the Restoration Project?
A: You can download all 30 episodes in MKV format here: mega.nz/folder/KWYGWRDY#7h3LWg4T-UmREafPobBHnQ
Q: What are the technical specifications of the Restoration Project?
A: All episodes are presented in their original 480i Standard Definition with English 2.0 Dolby Audio. No subtitles are available at this time.
Q: Where can I purchase a copy of the Restoration Project SD Blu-ray?
A: Purchase your copy here: tcap.company.site/TCAP-Restoration-Project-Blu-ray-p637386334
Q: How much will the Restoration Project SD Blu-ray cost?
A: Because Blu-rays are far less expensive to produce than DVDs (and much faster), we are able to create your set for much cheaper than what you would pay on Mercari or Etsy. Each SD Blu-ray set will be $35 USD.
Q: Are we shipping worldwide?
A: At this time, we are only able to ship in the USA. International orders will be available at a later date.
Q: Is this technically a bootleg?
A: To put it short and sweet, YES. However, NBC clearly has no interest in re-releasing the series on Peacock or physical media, so we are making it available for you TCAPers and fans.
Q: Questions?
A: Feel free to reach out with your questions regarding this project! We cannot wait to share it with you.
