I was on reddit briefly and got IP banned as well. The first ban was for saying "you fucking suck" to someone. Then the permanent ban was because I quoted Norm Macdonald in the Norm MacDonald subreddit: "What are you, retarded?" I shit you not. Fuck that place.
Yeah, I got 2 short bans before I got IP banned. One because I used the word “f@ggots”, but I seriously wasn’t even talking about gay people or insulting anyone. I was referencing “f@ggots and peas”, which is a repulsive English dish containing little sausages (i.e., f@ggots) and peas.
Another time I commented on a video of a Karen screaming at a disabled woman and her daughter for using a handicapped spot, and I said that if she talked to my mother that way I would “knock her the fuck out”, which was “promoting violence”. Fuck Reddit indeed. Facebook is shit too but at least they have an appeals process.
EDIT: On reddit I used the actual word. Used an “@“ here because maybe that’s a no-no word here too? Lol
Copy and pasting this post I made in another thread:
This place isn't all that edgy to me. I think the problem is that most Internet users now are young and/or started using the Internet relatively recently (like within the last 10 years) so they take word filters, strict moderation and algorithms for granted. Here, you could use words like tranny, retard, etc if you really wanted to and most users will probably not really care. On places like Reddit, however, people are so used to the aforementioned factors that somebody using the 'r-word slur', as they call it, is incomprehensible to them and they lash out
